We for … Modigliana
A group of researchers from the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering at Politecnico di Milano established an Observatory shortly after the tragic calamitous events that caused landslides and floods in the territory of Modigliana and vast areas of the Emilia Romagna Region. The Observatory includes researchers with diverse expertise ranging from risk assessment, geotechnics, architecture and urban planning disciplines, to geospatial data processing. The Observatory’s researchers have moved with a volunteer spirit to support the Municipality of Modigliana in its difficult journey of recovery and reconstruction, making their skills and knowledge available. The Observatory has undertaken a process of active listening to the citizenry and has promoted initiatives at national and European levels. In this journey, the Municipality has taken an active role, and we wish to make available to the Modigliana community what we have done and to share and co-design what we still intend to do.

The Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering of Politecnico di Milano is responsible for the ReFloat-er Observatory, which provides the community of Modigliana and the territories affected by the 2023 flood in Emilia Romagna with transversal skills from urban planning to the evaluation and management of hydrogeological risks, to design.
